What is the selection process?

There are three rounds of the selection process. The first round determines the top 50 Semifinalists. The second round determines the top 12 Finalists.  The final round will determine the Awards Winner and 4 Runners-up. The Fan Favorite will be determined by the nominee who is one of the 50 Semifinalists and received the most fan votes. After announcing the 50 Semifinalists, we reset all voting tallies to zero, so all 50 Semifinalists start accumulating votes on a forward going basis at the same time.

  • Round 1:  50 Semifinalists -- Forty of the fifty Semifinalists will be chosen from the entire pool of eligible nominees by an internal committee of members of the Trusted Sports Foundation.  A combination of Fan Vote and internal committee of the Trusted Sports Foundation, each with a 50/50 weighting, will determine ten of the fifty Semifinalists.
  • Round 2:  12 Finalists -- Ten of the twelve Finalists will be chosen from the pool of fifty Semifinalists by an internal committee of members of the Trusted Sports Foundation. A combination of Fan Vote and internal committee of the Trusted Sports Foundation each with a 50/50 weighting will determine two of the twelve Finalists.
  • Final Round:  The National Selection Committee and online Fans (fan vote will count as one member unit of the Selection Committee) will vote from the pool of twelve Finalists to determine the Winner and four Runners-Up (fan vote will count as one member unit of the Selection Committee).  The online Fans will vote from the pool of 50 Semifinalists to select the recipient of the “Fan Favorite" award. A Semifinalist that does not make it to be a Top 12 Finalist is still in the running for the "Fan Favorite" award which is based 100% on number of total fan votes.

The Inspireum Football Awards Winner, four Runners-up and “Fan Favorite” will be announced on January 15, 2012.

How are the Nominees evaluated?

The nominees are evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Overall positive impact of the nominee’s inspirational story.
  • Extent to which nominee exhibits the qualities of Character, Courage, Contribution and Commitment.
  • Magnitude in which the nominee has inspired his or her teammates, school, family and community.

Will Fans be able to show support by voting?

Yes! The selection process incorporates a Fan Vote. The Selection Committee and the Fan Vote will determine the nation's most inspirational football players in America. The Fan Vote will count as one unit of the Selection Committee vote to determine the Winner and four Runners-up. The online Fans will vote from the pool of 50 Semifinalists to select the recipient of the “Fan Favorite" award. A Semifinalist that does not make it to be a Top 12 Finalist is still in the running for the Fan Favorite award, which is based 100% on number of total fan votes.

How many times will a Fan be allowed to vote?

Fans are invited to vote on the Inspireum Football Awards website as often as they like.

What role does the Trusted Sports Foundation play in the inspireum football AwardS?

Trusted Sports Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on removing barriers that prevent youth from participating in sports to get and keep Kids In The Game™. Through the Inspireum Award programs, we provide and administer academic scholarships to honor and celebrate young athletes who have inspired their teammates, schools, and communities. Trusted Sports Foundation provides financial assistance to low-income, underserved youth who cannot afford the increasing costs of playing sports. We also raise awareness of the importance of athletics in developing future leaders, with skills and values that transfer from the sports field into the classroom, workplace, family and community.

Once I have been nominated, then what?

STEP 1: CONFIRM PARTICIPATION - Once you have been nominated either you and/or your parent/guardian will receive an email link to the website in which you will be asked to confirm that you wish to participate and that you agree with the Participation Agreement. If you are under the age of 18 at the time of the nomination, your parent or guardian will have to approve the Participation Agreement on the website. If you are over the age of 18, you may approve yourself on the website.
STEP 2: PLAYER PROFILE PAGE - You will need to add content to your online Player Profile page. As soon as your nomination is confirmed, a Player Profile page will be created for you and you should upload a master “profile” photo of yourself wearing a football jersey or a photo of you in action on the field (this photo should be vertical). Throughout the awards program, you as well as your supporters, can directly “add a post” to your online Player Profile. You can post videos, photos, written stories, and links (online articles). Fans and Selection Committee members will evaluate your story based on the content you and your supporters upload. Please ask your coaches, teammates, classmates, friends, teachers and family members to write a story as to why the nominee has inspired others.

How do supporters and nominees submit content to a nominee's Player Profile page?

Nominees and their parent/guardian will act as an administrator of their Player Profile page. Nominees can add or delete videos, photos, stories and links (online articles) to the Player Profile at any time. In addition, supporters of a nominee can directly upload material (i.e. “Add a Post”) to the nominee’s page.
Videos: Nominees can upload video to the Player Profile page by clicking “Add a Post”. There is an online help tutorial explaining how to upload video prepared by nominees and their supporters, as well as how to upload video that resides on TV news stations, YouTube, Vimeo, or other websites.
Stories: Anyone can write stories of support for a nominee, which can be uploaded to the Player Profile page by clicking “Add a Post”. Please ask coaches, teammates, parents, classmates, teachers and family members to write a story about the nominee.
Photos: Nominees can upload photos to the Player Profile page by clicking “Add a Post”. Please upload quality photos, preferably of a higher resolution in any of the following formats: .jpg, .gif, .eps or .png.
News Articles, Links, Blog Posts: Any online news articles, news links or blog posts that help tell the nominee’s story are welcome to be uploaded to the Player Profile page by clicking “Add a Post”.

Where can I get help if I am having trouble uploading content onto a Player Profile page?

If you have problems loading any material to your page, you can submit information to info@inspireum.com

How do I use Social Media (Facebook, Twitter) to create more awareness about my participation in the inspireum football Awards?

Using Facebook is a fantastic way to create awareness about your participation in the Inspireum Football Awards. The awards site has a Facebook component that allows supporters to add comments directly on each Player Profile that will also be immediately posted to the user’s Facebook wall.  You can click here to download the Inspireum Football Awards guide to Social Media, which will provide information as to how best to use Facebook and twitter to drive awareness about your story.
