Official Rules
High School Football Rudy Awards

1. Description of the Awards
The High School Football Rudy Awards (the “Awards”) are designed to honor High School Football players in the United States who best embody the principles of inspirational football legend Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger. The Awards measure the size of the player's heart and factor in such attributes as exemplary Character, Courage, Contribution, and Commitment as members of their team. Thirty semifinalists will be selected to participate in the formal selection process. The field will be narrowed to three finalists with one winner being awarded the High School Football Rudy Award by Rudy Ruettiger.
2. Management
The Award is managed by Trusted Sports, Inc. (“TSI”), an Oregon corporation with principal place of business at 1500 NE Butler Market Road, Bend, OR 97701, USA.
3. Binding Agreement
In order to officially participate in the Award, the nominee football player (“Nominee”) and the nominee football player’s parent and/or legal guardian (“Nominee Parent”) must agree to these Official Rules (“Rules”) by confirming via email acceptance of the Rules. If the Nominee is a minor (i.e. under eighteen years of age at the time the nomination is submitted), the Nominee must obtain the permission of the Nominee Parent who must also agree to these Rules on their and the Nominee’s behalf before the Nominee can officially participate in this Award and have the nomination posted to the Awards website http://www.highschoolrudyawards.com (“Website”). Because the Nominee and Nominee’s Parents will be bound by these Rules and these Rules will form a legally binding agreement with respect to this Award, please read them carefully.
4. Eligibility
The Award is open students presently attending a high school (or home schooled at the high school level) that are currently playing high school football in one of the 50 U.S. states (including the District of Columbia), excluding U.S. territories. Internet access is required to register for the Award. The Nominees must be U.S. residents, and must have obtained their Nominee Parents’ permission and consent to be bound to these Rules. Nominees (1) may be any gender, age, or year in High School (Freshman through Senior); (2) must be a player on any level of a high school football team (Freshman, JV, Varsity); and (3) must be a player on a football team roster at some point during the 2009 season. Nominees must also agree to participate in any Media Activity, as outlined in Paragraph 12 below. This Award is void where prohibited.
5. Nominations Award Period
Nominations can be submitted from 12:00 A.M. Pacific Time on September 1, 2009 and shall close for nominations on 5:00 P.M. Pacific Time on November 30, 2009. Thirty (30) Semifinalists will be announced December 10, 2009. The winner and two runners-up will be announced on the Website by 12:00 noon on February 3, 2010.
6. How To Enter
Nominations may be submitted through the Website by coaches, athletic directors, principals, parents, teachers, siblings, friends, booster club members and teammates of the Nominee. Award criteria and instructions on how to participate in the Award are on the Website. Uploading of Award information shall be done electronically on the Website. Nominations must be complete (as determined by TSI), and be in English (unless otherwise specified). All intellectual property rights in any nomination submissions that belonged to the Nominees will remain with the Nominees, but the submissions will otherwise become the property of TSI, and will not be returned after the Award.
7. Conduct
By participating in the Award, Nominee and Nominee’s Parents agree to comply with and be bound by these Rules, which will also be posted on the Website. Failure to comply with these Rules may result in disqualification from the Award. Nominees agree to comply with and be bound by the decisions of the Selection Committee, which are final and binding in all respects. TSI reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any Nominee it finds to be: (1) tampering or attempting to tamper with the nomination or selection process, or the operation of the Award; (2) violating the Official Rules; (3) providing false or misleading information; or (4) acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any false information provided within the context of the Award by any Nominee or the Nominee’s Parents concerning identity, postal address, ownership of right or non-compliance with the Rules may result in the immediate disqualification of a Nominee from the Award. TSI further reserves the right to disqualify any entry that it believes in its sole and unfettered discretion infringes upon any law or otherwise does not comply with these Rules.
8. Selection of Semifinalists
From all approved and posted nominations submitted, TSI will select 30 Semifinalists to participate in the formal selection process. TSI will evaluate each nominee on a points system based on the following criteria: (1) Positive impact of the nominee’s inspirational story; (2) Extent to which nominee has “Dreamed Big & Never Quit!”; (3) Positive effect on peers, school and community of the nominee; and (4) How well the nominee exhibits the Four C’s on and off the field (i.e. Character, Courage, Contribution & Commitment). TSI will review and take into consideration the “Nominee Inspires Me” tallies, the quality of stories from coaches, family members, and teachers, videos, and other content provided. The 30 Semifinalists will be announced on the Website on December 10, 2009.
9. Selection of Finalists
The 30 Semifinalists will then be voted on by the National Selection Committee. Each Selection Committee member will evaluate nominees on a points system based on the following criteria: (1) Positive impact of the nominee’s inspirational story; (2) Extent to which nominee has “Dreamed Big & Never Quit!”; (3) Positive effect on peers, school and community of the nominee; and (4) How well the nominee exhibits the Four C’s on and off the field (i.e. Character, Courage, Contribution & Commitment). The selection process also incorporates a Fan Vote which will account for one of the eight votes of the National Selection Committee in which Fans can show their support of the 30 Semifinalists. Fans are invited to vote on the Website as often as they like for their choice of the nation’s most inspirational high school football player. Voting will take place from December 10, 2009 through January 31, 2010. The nominee receiving the most total National Selection Committee votes will be the High School Football Rudy Award recipient. If a Nominee is unable for whatever reason to accept their award, TSI reserves the right to present the Award to another Nominee. The winner and two runners-up will be announced on the Website by 12:00 noon PST on February 3, 2010.
10. Scholarships/Awards
The High School Football Rudy Award winner will be awarded a $10,000 academic scholarship. The winner will be presented the High School Football Rudy Award by Rudy Ruettiger at an Awards Ceremony in their hometown on February 25, 2010. The two runners-up will each receive a $5,000 academic scholarship. The 30 Semifinalists will each receive a “Rudy 45” football jersey to celebrate their participation in the Rudy Awards.
11. NCAA Eligibility
In the event a Nominee is deemed a recipient of an academic scholarship, “Rudy 45” football jersey, or any other prize or benefit from their participation in the Rudy Awards, AND they intend to be eligible as a student-athlete in accordance with the rules of the NCAA, they will need to determine whether or not their acceptance may jeopardize their NCAA eligibility. It is the sole responsibility of the Nominee to make this determination. More information about NCAA eligibility can be found at http://www.eligibilitycenter.org.
12. Media Activity
By participating in this Award, Nominee and Nominee’s Parents agree and hereby grant TSI permission to use, copy, modify and make available the Nominee’s nomination submissions to the public (with or without attribution to the Nominee) for any purpose, such as, but not limited to, posting on the Website, press and media communications and outlets, without further compensation to the Nominee. TSI has full discretion to post or not post any Nominee submissions on the Website. Nominee and Nominee’s Parents also agree to participate in any media or promotional activity regarding the Award. If a Nominee is a semifinalist, finalist or winner, Nominee agrees that TSI may use Nominee’s name and likeness to administer and promote the Award and to conduct media interviews and promotional events.
13. Privacy Notice
Any personal information collected during the course of the Award by TSI will only be used for administering this Award and for other purposes as outlined in these Rules, and will be subject to the practices described in the Privacy Policy located on the Website. Nominee will have the right to request removal of any personal data from the Website by writing to TSI (Attention: Privacy Matters) at the TSI address listed above or emailing privacymatters@trustedsports.com.
14. Revisions
TSI reserves the rights to amend or modify these Official Rules.
15. General Conditions
This Award is governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, United States. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. By participating in this Award, Nominee and Nominee’s Parents agree to be bound by the terms of these Official Rules and by TSI’s decisions, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to this Award. Any semifinalist, finalist, or winner who cannot be contacted within seven (7) days of attempted first notification will forfeit his or her award. Potential award winners may be required to sign, notarize and return an Affidavit or Declaration of Eligibility, a Liability/Publicity Release, an I.R.S. Form W-9, and provide any additional information that may be required by TSI. Failure to comply within this time period may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate nominee. Each Nominee agrees not to participate in the Award in any manner that might (1) infringe any third-party proprietary, intellectual property, industrial property, personal rights or other rights, including without limitation, copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret or confidentiality obligation; or (2) otherwise violate applicable law in any countries in the world.
16. No Recourse to Judicial or Other Procedures
To the extent permitted by law, the rights to litigate, to seek injunctive relief or to any other recourse to judicial or any other procedure in case of disputes or claims resulting from or in connection with this Award are hereby excluded, and Nominee and Nominee’s Parents expressly waive any and all such rights.
17. Internet
TSI is not responsible for electronic transmission errors resulting in omission, interruption, deletion, defect, or delay in operations or transmission. TSI is not responsible for inaccurate transmissions of or failure to display Award submissions on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website or any combination thereof. If for any reason the Internet portion of the Award is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Award, TSI reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Award.
